Born in Monterrey, México. 1971. Her path to art was shaped by movement - between places, cultures and diverse forms of living. Studies and formative experiences in Mexico, Europe, the United States and South America gradually became part of a visual language rooted in observation, memory, and the complexities of identity and transformation.

Her first ballerinas appeared without arms or faces. By removing what might identify or contain them, the figures resisted being placed within a prescribed image of what a body—or a person—should be. From there, the work turned to the back: the body no longer performing, but turning away. Movement gradually gave way to stillness, and stillness became another form of transformation.
The faces followed. The body had stopped; now the gaze emerged. Eyes opened outward, confronting what stood before them. More recently, in No todo lo que se ve existe, those eyes closed again. The gaze turned inward, toward introspection, but also toward the things we choose not to see—the uncertain territory between awareness, avoidance, and what remains unresolved.
Across these bodies of work, Calderoni returns to a persistent question: how do we resist becoming fixed within the forms, expectations, and identities prescribed to us? Her work does not attempt to answer it. Instead, it remains in the space between movement and stillness, seeing and refusing to see, definition and transformation.
